45 - The Jewel of My Lord (V)

Yea, it’s because I hide that I’ve stayed alive,
Praising, dancing, and singing in the house of my Lord.
Before a thief thinks to steal, a gem must shine.
Before a wolf thinks to devour, a sheep must bleat
Or wander away from its shepherd.
Everyone tempted has their tempter.
If I be the tempter, woe, I’m the devil!
But I take care to not tempt anyone.

Tears fall upon the thought of being stolen from my Lord.
If a thief came to plunder, rape or steal,
And I found my Lord not there, I shall be killed.
His voice I shall no longer hear,
His face, no longer see. Who am I to be without him?
Without him, I am helpless as a sheep.
But, this fate, I can only fear if through failing love,
I start to either be tempted or tempt.

But oh! With a Lord like mine, pray,
I am always his and he is always mine.
He is the source of all my life.
He has bought me for a price,
By blood, sweat, and tears.
If he dies, then I too shall die.
How grateful I am he lives, he’s alive!
Together when we pass, may we join in eternal life.
