45 - The Jewel of My Lord (II)

No, I am his and he is mine.
What’s flesh and soul is his,
So when I walk the streets,
I walk wary of prowling beasts.
To be carted out in chains?
To be shepherded by another?
If I were to lose my love,
I should weep forever!

But, such fates arrive,
If they see a takeable life.
Many spouses are lost
Because of jewels they flaunt.
But, my beloved’s wise,
Wiser than all in the Earth.
When he speaks and writes to me,
I eat every word to keep in my eternal heart.
