And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Pray Father, we seek your face
Let us not be content,
With the demons who masquerade themselves
As angels of the light.
In our prayers, pray that we pray,
Until we know it is our grace,
That the voice which consoles us
Is peaceable and kind
Rather than one who disquiets our minds.
Let us not be afraid, Father,
For so long as we earnestly seek thee.
I have taken these instructions from a nun,
And I pray though I be but a layman.
Nonetheless, have mercy on us Father.
Though of the contemplatives I am not,
I pray to pray as you want me to pray,
So finally, after many years of this vain life,
I may see your face.
I confess, I’ve been asleep for a long time.
Father, help me wake.
