19 - Vexation: Pretended Cynicism

A living dog is better than a dead lion.

If one looks close
Words be a sword.
The tang's situated off the hilt
For viewership purposes,
But slip it back to its end
And there you go, a sword.
Though I suppose if
Our language wasn't romanized,
A few strokes of the brush would be enough
To keep the whole blade on the hilt.
Could you imagine it?
Writing all of this on a hunk of iron?
Alas, what is this?
Nothing more than prose
Pretending to be verse.
Perhaps I should craft a point.
Be not conformed
To the world
But be renewed
In the spirit
Of your
Mind.

Be not conformed to this world but be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

Now, if I were really writing verse,
Just like this, I'd pick a rhyme and meter.
Is this way of poetry superior?
I'd say yes if one needs words to remember.

Ah, but let's drop it for now. Write what feels natural.
This no longer poetry, but a story inside a book of poetry.
By this, I refer to the prose of course.

I don't know if I should be bothered.
I don't want to be a contemporary
Because the issues of the day are all imaginary.
From birth, all are taught a certain way.
I just can't care beyond what we pray,
But if there is a consideration to make I'll just say
Many pray for better leaders,
Many pray for change,
But who's the who prays
To be the one to change?

This is getting too cynical for my own good.
I don't want to complain.
I'm simply pretending to be down.

Truth is, whenever prayer is done,
There is a change in the person.
Prayer feeds the soul of man,
His essence from which he's formed.
With enough prayer
One becomes greater than conquerors,
And the godly through the Word of God
Causes those like the Huns to turn around.

Oh Lord, my heart.
Writing stuff like this kind of hurts.
I better repent with an actual verse.
I... I... I... I... I...!
It's always I, I, I in these kinds of works!
This is not a good word.
It shall break against what's short and sweet.
Okay, I know what to write now.
